The Boss (not Springsteen) catered lunch for us today from Louise’s. My second experience with Louise’s was not as good as my first. It was decent, as far as Italian is concerned, but I’ve certainly had better.
The focaccia is pretty good — nice and moist and chewy, with a nice crust. A little heavy on the rosemary, in my opinion, but still solid.
The Angel Hair Pomodoro was unremarkable and overcooked. Granted, it’s angel hair and it sat for a while before we got to it, but, aside from the pasta, the sauce was rather bland.
Speaking of bland, the wilted spinach had no salt, no garlic — no flavor.
But the mashed potatoes were pretty darned good. It’s pretty hard to screw up mashed potatoes, but I was glad to see that they got this basic staple right.
And the Chicken Marsala was a big hit — plenty of mushrooms, a tasty sauce (if a little thin), and the chicken was nice and moist.
It was a good, solid lunch, but I’m glad I didn’t pay any money for it.
